The Inaugural meeting of the Academic Year 2023-24 of Paurastya Vidyapitham was held on 03 June 2023 at 10.00 a.m. in the Cardinal Tisserant Hall. Rev. Dr Mathews Mar Polycarpos, Auxiliary Bishop of the Major Archeparchy of Trivandrum delivered the inaugural address and Rev. NEW DIRECTOR FOR THE INSTITUTE OF EASTERN CANON LAW (IECL)

Rev. Dr Roy Joseph has been appointed as the Director of the Institute of Eastern Canon Law (IECL) at Vadavathoor, Kottayam, which is aggregated to the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome. Dr. Roy Joseph was appointed by Cardinal Mar George Alencherry, the head of the Syro-Malabar Church and the Chancellor of Paurastya Vidyapitham with the approval of the Dicastery for Education and Culture in Rome. He has been teaching at Paurastya Vidyapitham since 2015. Dr. Kaduppil has been a registered attorney in the Kerala High Court since 2005. LICENTIATE IN BIBLICAL THEOLOGY

In a proud moment for Paurastya Vidyapitham, 11 students of the Licentiate in Biblical Theology course completed their thesis defence successfully. The thesis defence was conducted on 14 March 2023 with the students presenting their research and findings to a panel of experts. The Licentiate in Biblical Theology is a rigorous program that requires students to delve deep into the history, literature, and theology of the Bible. The successful completion of the program is a significant achievement and a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students. In order to make the students cautious about the current incidents that are taking place in our society, PVP arranged a Quiz Competition for all the students who are studying in all the institutions affiliated to PVP. This quiz was conducted in two rounds, the first round, which was a preliminary round, was conducted in their perspective institutions on 24 November 2022 and the second round, which was the final round, was conducted on 27 January 2023 at the Cardinal Tisserant Auditorium in St. Thomas Apostolic Seminary, Vadavathoor. A SYMPOSIUM ON BIBLICAL LANGUAGES

The PVP organized a symposium on “Biblical Languages” on 23 January 2023 for the Licentiate students at Fr. Placid Memorial Hall. Several papers on biblical languages were presented on that day. Various exhortations based on this theme were presented on that day. President of the PVP, Dr. Andrews Mekkattukunnel delivered the introductory speech for the symposium. Dr. Jacob Prasad presented the first paper on the topic, “Greek Language: History and Evolution”, following this Dr. Varghese Mattathil also presented a paper on "Aramaic-Syriac Language: Its historical setting and development", and finally Prof. Aryel Tsion presented a paper on “History and Revival of the Hebrew language” along with Dr. Cyriac Valiyakunnumpurathe and Dr. Sebastian Kuttiyanickal.
